Frequently Asked Questions
Question:
What is the Novx Multiplexing System?
Answer:
The system consists of a dedicated host computer and a Data Acquisition Remote Terminal (DART) at each station to be monitored. The workstation monitor (Series 300 or Series 53xx) is connected to the DART by a simple data cable, and the DART is connected to the host by a "multi-drop" RS-485 serial communication line. Each dual-twisted-pair RS-485 line can support up to 32 DARTs. The host has from one to four 8-channel serial interface boards, allowing up to a total of 1,024 stations to be monitored simultaneously. The host computer runs the Novx proprietary Multiplexing Data Acquisition software. System status is presented constantly and, if desired, alarm status may be written to disk. The software is fully configurable to handle any size system from 1 to 1,024 stations with graphical presentation of ESC, Electrostatic Voltage, "seen" by any Series 53xx station.
